Slow Cooker Pulled Ham

I first had this last year when a family friend had made it and brought some to share. I had a vague memory of how he said he made it. I took to pinterest and went through so many recipes until i found one that had similar ingredients to his. I can’t remember if he smoked his ham or not, but it would be even more DELICIOUS if you had the time to do that. if i ever do that i’ll be sure to update the post to include those details.

  • SLOW COOKER PULLED HAM

  • 1 Bone in Ham (7-8lbs. NOT spiral cut)

  • Dijon Mustard

  • BBQ rub or BBQ sauce of choice

  • 1 1/3 c. Brown sugar-divided

  • 4 TBSP Butter

  • 1 (6oz.) Can Pineapple Juice

  • ½ c. Honey

  • Be sure ham is completely thawed if it has been frozen.

  • Brush entire ham with dijon mustard. If using a bbq rub, cover the ham with the rub. I used bbq sauce and brushed it on the ham over the dijon. I didn’t measure the sauce but did not coat the entire ham with it, swirled it around the ham twice and brushed it in. Was worried about having to much sweetness.

  • In the bottom of the crockpot add 2/3 cup of brown sugar, butter, pineapple juice, and honey.

  • Place ham on top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

  • When ham is hot and falling off the bone remove ham and shred. Set aside.

  • Pour the drippings from the crockpot into a sauce pan. Heat drippings until they reduce by about half. Whisk in the remaining 2/3 cup of brown sugar. Stir until brown sugar is dissolved and glaze has thickened slightly.

  • If ready to serve right away pour glaze over the shredded ham. I added my ham back to the crockpot on low, and poured glaze over to keep it warm until ready to serve.

    • I did not use all the glaze! I only ended up using about half of it. Start small and add more to your preference.

The pastel table runner layered under the dishes is our Grandma Janet’s. Her house was decorated for every season and holiday with the appropriate colors. I can’t help but use it for anything I shoot during the spring.

I paired this ham with my favorite corn casserole. Together make an amazing Easter meal, or for me just lots of leftovers for lunch this week. This Cheesy Zucchini Cornbread version is a must try!

While reading so many recipes i found that a lot of people also did this in the oven. i’m not sure what temperature and time were used, but if i ever make it again i could maybe do it in the oven and update this to include that version.
